When you are on a call on the iPhone, pressing the side button ends the call. Although this feature seems helpful, it becomes irritating several times. What if you are taking a call on speaker phone and want to turn off just the display? Pressing the side button will actually end the call in place of turning off the display. This is the primary reason why most people want to disable this function. Most people end up hanging up the call while trying to turn off just the display. With iOS 16, Apple now lets users disable the Side button press to end call action. If you disable it, you can then use the Side button to turn off the display while on a call. This article will tell you how to stop the Side button from editing calls on iPhone.
Before you learn how to disable the side button from ending calls, you should know that disabling this option will also disable the ability to decline an incoming call by pressing the Side button twice.
Stop Side Button from Ending Calls on iPhone
Open the Settings app. Then scroll down to find Accessibility and tap on it. Now tap Touch and enable the toggle for Prevent Lock to End Call.

After you enable the toggle, the Side button will stop ending calls.
Now if you accidentally press the Side button during a phone call, it will not end the call. As I already said, it will also disable double press side button to decline the incoming call.
