Siri is Apple’s personal digital assistant available for iOS devices and Mac computers. Initially, Siri was designed to answer your voice commands, but Apple added the ability to Type something to Siri for getting answers last year. So, Siri can also answer your text commands. By default, this feature is disabled and you need to enable it manually if you want to use Siri with text commands in place of voice commands.
Enable ‘Type to Siri’ on Mac
Type to Siri is available for Siri on Mac as well, but your system must be running on macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later. If you have a system that supports ‘Type To Siri’, keep reading to know how to enable Type To Siri on Mc.
Go to the Apple menu and choose “System Settings”. Here Choose “Accessibility” scroll to the left side menu and select “Siri”. Here, check the box for “Enable Type to Siri” to turn on the feature. Now close the System Preferences.
Now you can try using Siri either by using the little Siri icon in the upper right corner of the icon in the doc. You will see an option for typing in place of giving voice commands.
Siri will offer the same results. The only change is in the way you interact with it. I personally feel that voice commands are easier but there could be a few circumstances when you want to use text commands in place of voice commands. It is also helpful for people with disability in speaking. They can interact with Siri as well.
