Chrome browser is notorious for draining the battery life of your laptop. But this is going to change. With Google Chrome 108, Google added Energy Saver mode in Chrome. This mode reduces battery consumption by limiting some background tasks, visual effects, and video frame rates. It will affect your experience but will surely improve the battery life of your laptop.
Google Chrome’s Energy Saver mode is added to Chrome’s flags. You need to enable the flag to get the Energy Saver mode. In this article, I will tell you how to enable Energy Saver mode in Chrome.
First of all, you need to make sure you are using Chrome version 108 or higher. If you are using an older version of Chrome, you will not see the battery saver option.
Enable Energy Saver Mode on Chrome
First of all, open chrome://flags. For this, type chrome://flags in the omnibar and look for Enable the Energy Saver mode feature in the settings. From the drop-down, select Enable.
Soon after you select Enable, a Relaunch button will appear at the bottom of Chrome.
Click the Relaunch button.
It will add the Battery Saver feature to Chrome’s settings.
Now open Chrome’s Settings page. For this, click the vertical three dots icon at the top right corner and select Settings. Alternatively, you can visit chrome://settings/.
On the Settings page, click the Performance option on the left sidebar.
Now enable the Energy Saver toggle.
You will see two options for Energy saver. You can either turn it on when the battery is less than 20% or turn it on when your laptop is unplugged.
Select any option as per your need.
